The 1993-2011 Ford Ranger with the 4.0L SOHC V6 or the 2.3L Duratec four-cylinder is mechanically simple and over-built for a compact truck. The 5-speed manual transmission (Mazda M5OD) is nearly indestructible. The body-on-frame design allows frame and body repairs independently.
